My wooden mallet products…a sad story

I have 900 customized wooden mallets, made of quality beech wood. They are bigger and heavier than normal wooden mallets of the same style. However, I am not good at marketing and I don’t have money to make advertisements. The result is…In the last three years, I haven’t sold out any wooden mallets although they are nice tools.

Why? I continue asking myself.

Time back to six years ago. My business just started and I only sell hand tools at Amazon. One day, I got a special order. A customer purchased dozens of wooden mallets…for a wedding. Basing on my knowledge, mallets usually didn’t have roles in such a happy ceremony. But who cared about it?

In my eyes, each customer was my God. So I shipped these wooden mallets on time. Then, in two years I sold out hundreds of wooden mallets at Amazon. I was proud of being one of the top 5 wooden mallet seller at Amazon.

Then I made a mistake. One day I noticed a negative review of my wooden mallet, saying that the mallet was beautiful but its head fell down when using it. Oh, that’s a serious accident. I checked my inventory and found some mallets with fallen heads.

Then I investigated the event and finally got the reason. The manufacturer which kept a durable cooperation with me…betrayed me. The factory replaced quality glue with cheap glue…then caused the event. I stopped our cooperation and apologized to my customer and recalled all the inventory. But the mistake had happened and negative influence existed. I must do something.

I ordered some wooden mallets from different manufacturers and tested them. What could wooden mallets be used for? I asked myself and searched online.

Natural wooden mallets could be used to make food while waxed or varnished wooden mallets were widely used in DIY.

Wooden mallets could protect expensive leather stamping tools as well as things with fragile surfaces. The usages of these wooden mallets were beyond my knowledge. However, I was not quite satisfied with the samples that I ordered.

Why don’t I design my own wooden mallet? I persuaded myself and determined to do it. Expensive choice but I haven’t regreted yet. It was time to find another manufacturer who must be reliable, and with a great honour in the industry.

I finally confirmed my business partner and I was satisfied with the whole process of making mallets. Then we discussed about the details of this product. Beech wood, a good material and commonly used in making hand tools.

That’s it! I wanted an enhanced version of beech wood mallets. Previously the mallet samples were too light and the mallet heads were not wide enough. However, a heavy mallet head might change the balance of the whole tool. So I asked to strengthen the handle too.

After 6 months of improvement, I had a super wooden mallet. Beautiful look, enhanced quality and completely tightly glued. This wooden mallet is suitable for those who have bigger hands and want a heavier wooden mallet.

But…because of the previous negative influence, COVID-19 and my poor health…I haven’t gotten any new mallet orders…I am upset and helpless…

Now, please let me introduce my beech wood mallets again.
